Death Is the Road to Awe

Death is the Road to Awe By Adam Mundorf Forever people have looked for the fountain of youth. Does is exist? What make us think we're capable of finding it? The most powerful men in the world have succumbed to death. They had all of the money and hope in the world to live forever and couldn't do it. Why do we fear death? I mean just look at all of the history around us. Every man and woman eventually dies. Every. Single. One. Smile in the face of death for there is nothing to fear. It's a rest after a well lived life. What a beautiful thing it is. It's almost like we work for the privilege. When our mission here on Earth is done, we are done. We must go on to whatever follows. Some believe in reincarnation and others believe in heaven and hell. It's such a beautiful thing to look back throughout history and think that we all had the same fate. Kings, presidents, warriors and emperors. Even they were n

Life is a Circus : Dying a Clown

Image
Life is a Circus Dying a Clown By Adam Mundorf Life is a circus.  I like to picture the average person as a performer beginning a juggling routine.  As children you begin with just one pin.  You only need to focus on one goal, be a good child.  As one ages more and more pins start dropping into the routine.  Most of them self inflicted but many of them enforced through societal norms.  A person only has so much mental and physical RAM.  Find your values and only juggle those pins.  You may have heard the phrase : "Chase two rabbits, you will always go hungry."  That is very applicable here. To make matters worse, if you never learn this lesson early on, you die a clown....Worrying about pins that never mattered at all.  The only pins that matter are those that create a virtuous life and bring you nearer to true inner peace.  Not the type of peace that can be bought but the one that lifts your soul up to the heavens.  The smell of the cut grass on a nice spring day with the su

What I Learned from 28 to 29

What I Learned from 28 to 29 By Adam Mundorf Wow, today I am 29 years old.  You don't get unlimited days you know?  The days are long but the years are short and are rapidly lost to the sands of time.  As soon as a baby is conceived the hour glass is turned over and sand begins to pour.  We don't know how much sand we have, the quality of the grain or the size of the glass but we can decide to take advantage of every grain.  Never allowing a grain to fall without appreciating the moment to its fullest extent.  The next grain is never guaranteed and the flow could end at any moment.  Brain aneurysm, car accident, murder, cancer or major heart attack, shit happens. So, long story short, the biggest lesson I learned was to embrace the present, forget the past and be grateful for the ability to have a future.  It's easy to get caught up in the everyday minutia of bullshit but I implore everyone reading this blog....all 3,716 of you as of this writing, to take a moment to embr

Never Sitting in the Shade

Image
Never Sitting in the Shade By Adam Mundorf A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.  A legacy to leave the world is what matters.  It doesn't matter how big a house, how fancy a car, how nice a purse or how many shoes you owned.  What matters is that you plant trees for those who come after so that they can enjoy the shade.  When did people become so selfish?  I've met many powerful men and women, who have passed away with nothing to show for a successful life.  They lived life with diplomas, fancy offices in huge skyscrapers, palaces in the Hamptons and McLarens.  Shortly after death all of these things were auctioned off and sold.  No foundations, no grants, no gifts and no LEGACY.   They say you die twice. Once when you stop breathing and the second, a bit later on, when somebody mentions your name for the last time.  Swing past your local cemetery sometime and you will see those who were 'powerful' in life but wer

The Fallacy of Thoughts and Prayers

Image
The Fallacy of Thoughts and Prayers By Adam Mundorf  We've all heard or seen it.  The person changes their profile picture to a photo of the Ukraine flag, black lives matter square or we stand with (insert tragedy), acting as if they really care.  All this serves as is a plea for attention.  Look at me!  Look at me!  Give me attention!  It's almost as useless as saying 'thoughts and prayers'.  Either get involved directly or not at all.  Virtue signaling does nothing except show selfishness and superiority.  You're really doing a lot by changing your profile picture from the comfort of your 1st world country living room.  'Hand on heart' So brave!  Only kidding, read the following scenarios and realize that your thoughts and prayers are futile. Thoughts and prayers don't build wells in Africa. Hard work, money, sweat and influence does. Thoughts and prayers don't fix a war in Ukraine. Lives, blood, money and sacrifice does. Thoughts and prayers don&#

My Outlook on Diet and Nutrition

Image
My Outlook on Diet and Nutrition By Adam Mundorf I get many questions about diet and nutrition from readers of the blog.  This is my best distillation of it but it certainly isn't as fleshed out as I want it to be.  Nutrition is a very controversial subject and one that causes arguments that are almost on par with religion!  My method of nutrition combines longevity, anthropology and the habits of the most hardened people on Earth.  While I am not completely free of health issues, I have a resting heart rate of 50 and haven't been sick in 15 years.  I've spent a lot of time and money learning from those far older and wiser than me. I also have a very high degree of relative strength including an elite level deadlift with 550 at 180lbs.  My methods go far past just simple aesthetics but have the expectation of longevity and health.  I'll try to explain it as simply as I can. I separate my diet into five separate sections : Under-Eating Over-Eating Food Layering/Combining

Simplicity is King

Image
Simplicity is King By Adam Mundorf "Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify, simplify! I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumb-nail." Simplicity is King Everything in life is simple.  The immature mind craves complexity and constant entertainment while the mature mind realizes simplicity is king.  The answers are simple but somewhere along the way, people assumed that simple meant easy.  Sometimes the simplest solutions are the most difficult to stick to because they aren't attractive or flashy.  They're boring as shit, especially when you delve down into the below topics and realize that no matter how much you go into it, it's still laughably simple.  They also make you go against the grain of modern society which is focused on the here and now. How do you become wealthy?  Budget -> Save -> Invest How do you become strong? Lift
