Parable of the Drowning Man
There is a story that is often told in churches about a man who prays to God to save him from floods.  He has offers from people in rowboats and helicopters to get him saved from the flood.  He refuses each one and says God will save him.  He eventually drowns in the water and goes to heaven.  He asks God : "Why didn't you save me?"  God said : "I tried!  I sent you rowboats and helicopters to save you but you turned each one down."  

The moral of the story is that God helps those who help themselves.  How selfish is it to wish for change but not get to work with your own two hands.  What makes you deserving of handouts when you put forth no effort yourself?


Prayer is Laziness (Unless....)
In my opinion, people use prayer as a form of procrastination and laziness instead of getting to work trying to get what they want.  If God is a granter of prayers, I think he expects you to put immense effort in.  How selfish is it to expect something for nothing......

I believe that prayer is laziness unless it is prayers of gratitude.  Be thankful for what you do have instead of always having your hand out for more.  Everybody knows that one spoiled kid who cries over his Christmas presents not being good enough.  It's not a pretty sight and honestly is a bit sad for the parents that probably worked hard for those gifts.....  

So maybe next time you pray to the greater good (God) maybe say thank you instead of having your hand out for more.... You might be surprised at the results.

It's easy to sit in suburbanite paradise and pray that the underprivileged finds clean sources of water.  It's as useless as mopping in the rain.  People use thoughts and prayers to act like they're doing something but in reality are doing nothing at all.  They say prayer is the best way to talk with God, I guess the people in Auschwitz just had a bad reception right?  

Let's put something straight : Money and sweat builds wells in other countries.  Money, sweat and blood wins wars.  Money and hard work helps the homeless.  People will rarely deploy themselves to do the hard work because well, it's hard!

If you really want to make an impact, you need to get out there and act.

What I learned from 29 to 30 By Adam Mundorf What I Learned from 29 to 30 Hm, welp another year has passed and my life couldn't be better.  I am in good health, money in the bank and a roof over my head.  The above things are due to my decisions and actions.  Not once have I worried about an invading nation, a famine, a drought or where my next meal was coming from.  The above things have to do with luck.  The biggest lesson I learned was that our problems aren't really problems at all.  Growing up and living in America is living life on easy mode provided you don't self harm yourself through bad decisions.  We obviously don't all grow up with the same opportunities provided to us BUT if we take responsibility for our actions, realize we start where we are, we can become anything we want.
